36th Street Racing, Area Events, Rides

Weekend of Dec 17 & 18

1975 - Frisol - Nederlandse kampioenschappen (1ste plaats) - 006

Kids, we have one shopping week left. Make sure you put a 2012 36th Street Racing Kit on your wish list. Our 2012 kit order should be live at some point this weekend thanks to the fine folks at shopuptowncycles.com and our friends at Modry Design. In hopes of getting our Hincapie clothing back before the Summer is over, we will need everyone to place their order quickly. Make sure to keep an eye on your inbox for the go ahead. $125 for the club package, $300 for race team. At large members will order on an item by item basis.

As always, check out Weeklyrides.com for more ride options.

FRIDAY
6p, Tonite is the annual Uptown Cycles Holiday Bash. See you all at the shop. Don’t forget to bring a toy and/or canned goods to donate. Canned goods will go to Loaves & Fishes.

SATURDAY
8a, Winter Solstice Century Ride. 8a from Bailey Road Park in Davidson. Group departing from NODA at 705a. “Come join the Winter Bike League in Davidson this Saturday at 8:00a (sharp) from Cycle Path for 100 miles (70 mile option too – splits off from group at mile 30). The more the merrier, so spread the word, bring your riding buddy, club or team, gain great form and prep for the January 14th Polar Bear Metric. It may start out chilly, but will be in the mid 50′s. Store stop at mile 68 for 15-30 minutes. Sure it may sound cold, early and long, but we guarantee you afterwards you will be glad you did it. And remember next Saturday is Christmas Eve, so get the miles in this week.

Pace determined by group and dynamics, but would guess 19 avg. It is 100 miles so we don’t want to spend the whole day out there.”

Sponsored by the Rocky River Road Club (http://www.rockyriverroadclub.org/). See their website for map and route sheet. Great roads and different training terrain.

930a, Uptown Cycles Winter Bike League. Meet at the front of the shop, 1432 W. Morehead. ‘A’ Group – “Show’n'Go”, 50′ish miles, 17-19mph avg. ‘B’ Group goes “No Drop”, 35 miles, 15-17mph avg. Look for a small group to spin over from Noda at 9a.

SUNDAY
10a, 36th Street Racing Sunday Ride. *NEW TIME. Group departs 10am from the corner of 36th & Yadkin. 53miles. Group stop at Stallings Road Park. Group stop at corner of Pine Church Rd and Flowes Store Rd. Lead/chase split at Flowes Store Rd, chase group will ride no drop (18-19mph) and sweep the route. Store stop at Camp Stewart Rd & Harrisburg Rd. Sprint at Orr Rd. Pub finish at Growlers Pourhouse for $2.50 Rangers and Fat Tires courtesy New Belgium Brewery.

Please come prepared. Cell phone, food, water, cue sheet, route & pace familiarity, ID, and cash are always good things to have on your person no matter the distance. Cyclists ride at their own risk, roads are not closed for cyclists. We do our best to make sure everyone gets home in one piece, but it can be tough to account for all. The ride is NO GO if it’s raining. Route details below:
