Weekend of Jan 28 & 29

Bianchi

Not a lot to update here at HQ. Another week of winter, another week of manic weather patterns. Make sure to take advantage of the weekend and get out on the bike. Stay tuned here for more information on next weekend’s Womens Cycling Fitness Session hosted by Presbyterian Sports Medicine and Uptown Cycles.

SATURDAY
9a, Hell Loop. Our friends and neighbors at Modry Evergreen Racing are doing the Hell Loop this Saturday. There are two options. First one gives you about 94 miles and leaves from Smelly Cat in NoDa at 9:00am. The second option leaves from the school parking lot in Harrisburg around 9:45 and will get you about 65 miles.

It’s a fun route with a few short climbs. Total elevation gain of 4,500.

There is a store stop around mile 60 if you started the ride from NoDa. This ride is open to anyone that wants to come out and that is prepared to ride this type of a ride (food, bottles, spare tubes, phone, fitness). Average pace will probably be around 19mph.

930a, Uptown Cycles Winter Bike League. Meet at the front of the shop, 1432 W. Morehead. ‘A’ Group – “Show’n'Go”, 50′ish miles, 17-19mph avg. ‘B’ Group goes “No Drop”, 35 miles, 15-17mph avg. Look for a small group to spin over from Noda at 9a.

SUNDAY
10a, 36th Street Racing Sunday Ride. *NOTE: The bridge at Cal Bost Rd is out. Detour directly to Zion Church Rd from Flowes Store or left on Sam Black Rd. Group departs 10am from the corner of 36th & Yadkin. 53miles. Group stop at Stallings Road Park. Group stop at corner of Pine Church Rd and Flowes Store Rd. Lead/chase split at Flowes Store Rd, chase group will ride no drop (18-19mph) and sweep the route. Store stop at Camp Stewart Rd & Harrisburg Rd. Sprint at Orr Rd. Pub finish at Growlers Pourhouse for $2.50 Rangers and Fat Tires courtesy New Belgium Brewery.

Please come prepared. Cell phone, food, water, cue sheet, route & pace familiarity, ID, and cash are always good things to have on your person no matter the distance. Cyclists ride at their own risk, roads are not closed for cyclists. We do our best to make sure everyone gets home in one piece, but it can be tough to account for all. The ride is NO GO if it’s raining. Route details below:
