36th Street Racing, Rider Interviews

Rider Interview, Becky

Howdy kids. Time for another installment of our “Rider Interview/10 Questions”. Today we’re talking to Becky. We first met Becky on the Uptown Cycles Monday recovery rides, and slowly but surely convinced her to come ride with 36th Street Racing. She’s become a regular on our rides, and a great addition to the ‘squad’.

Ok, let’s get the tough questions out of the way first: What’s your name?
Becky

What part of Charlotte, do you call home?
Plaza Midhood

Tell us about your background in cycling, and and what got you into the sport?
Read the first Lance book and decided I wanted to go see him break the record. 3 months later I had bought my first bike and was sitting top of Alpe D’Huez watching him, Hincapie, Ulrich, Bazzo and crew time trial it up the mountain. Had so much fun – I went back the next year.

What’s your favorite kind of riding to do today?
Mountains/Touring

What do you take on a ride with you no matter what (besides the bike of course)?
Intertube & air cartriges

What are you riding right now?
The same Trek 5200 I started with – wanting a new bike :-)

Where is your favorite place to ride?
Blueridge Parkway or Ashe/Watauga Counties

How often do you ride?
About 4 times a week.

If you hadn’t jumped into the cycling, what do you think you would be doing now?
Catching more music (these early morning rides kind of throw a wrench in catching those late night shows).

Anything else you would like to add?
My mantra for the perfect ride – just enough miles to be good and tired – End with a screaming downhill and ALWAYS have cold beer waiting in the car.

*Time Bonus: Favorite post ride beer?
Fat Tire, baby – not that I’d turn down a Sweetwater 420 or OMG Copper . . .
