11.17.11TT Bars in Group Rides – What Not To DoOccasionally we have folks bring out their TT or Tri bikes for our group rides. While we certainly welcome all comers, there are times when our group includes some less experienced riders that might be working on their bike handling skills. With that in mind, if you have TT bars on your bike, stay out of them or ride easy at the back (don't surge past the group on downhills, etc). This video is a good example of what can happen when someone takes the opposite path.

04.19.10Burgers, Booty and Beer RideWell, the plan WAS to meet at Uptown Cycles in Charlotte, and have a quick jaunt around the booty loop, then back to Burger Co. next to Uptown for a bite and a brew… That WAS the plan. Instead, Shawn and I left Noda and ended up on our own little tangent through Northeast Charlotte. 03.08.10The Search Continues.So after a lot of searching and little to no luck, I was able to order a set of Mavic CXP22 built on Shimano 105 hubs. We wrapped them in Continental Gatorskins, and despite one early pinch and corresponding flat, they have proven themselves to be quite sturdy. A big step up in quality, here’s hoping they last. Chris at Uptown Cycles was to source them through a company called Handspun. Thanks for the great product guys, and thanks to Chris for his patience.

03.01.10The Wheel Fiasco.As a result of last weekend’s shattered wheel, heretofore known as “the incident”, I’ve been off my bike for 5 days and counting. I’m working with Chris, one of the owners at Uptown Cycles, to source a pair of Mavic Aksium wheels (they come highly reviewed and recommend). The plan is to marry them to Continental Gatorskins (also recommended). Unfortunately, we’ve had little luck going thru the traditional supply chain due to Mavic being out of stock. I would like to support my local LBS, but I also really want to ride. Have a sneaking suspicion that an online purchase ...

02.23.10Sunday Ride. Fun?Sunday started as a nice enough ride with a simple enough goal: NoDa-Uptown-Booty Loop 3x - Uptown - NoDa. All went to plan for the first 3/4 of the ride. Stunning weather, good legs, surprising climbing success + tasty cold beer. Matt and I were making good time on the return home, riding relatively easy when we made the turn from College to 11th St. For some reason, I thought it would be the perfect time for a sprint.
