“per·se·ver·ance (pûr s -vîr ns). n. 1. steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.”
Proprietor of Uptown Cycles, our sponsor, our friend. Chris Sheehan has so many cycling stories. When I started riding a few years ago, Chris took all of my ridiculous naivety in stride and – despite my best efforts – still managed to point me in the right direction. He has helped grow and shape 36th Street Racing since day one. If you’re lucky enough to spend time at the front with “The Sheetah”, you might even get a storied glimpse into his past riding exploits. Most of you are not aware of the challenges he has faced and overcome. At the age of 29, Chris suffered a series of back-to-back strokes. Since this traumatic event, Chris has been a supporter and advocate for Stroke related charities.
Checkout The Good Ride feature on Chris. It’s an exceptional read on a humble, reserved man, a great sounding board, and a friend. Today, Sheehan continues to be a huge supporter of cycling, and a friend to people who simply enjoy riding bikes. Now it’s our turn.
Give 10 for Sheehan. This Monday, June 3rd at 6pm, join us as we ride bikes, have fun, and help Chris give back to the North Carolina Stroke Association. Give what you’re able to. We will be taking donations at the Bikes, Burgers & Beers Monday ride. 1432 W. Morehead. Or, you can donate before the ride by clicking here.
